The first Summer Capsule is officially out in the world π€©π₯β¨
There is something deeply satisfying about crossing the finish line on a big project. What started as a few rough sketches, a small stack of fabrics, and a whole lot of ambition (plus drive, determination, and a slightly unhinged belief that there are 200 hours in every day π π€£) somehow made its way to this moment. Well, thatβs about how long it felt like it took to get it finished.
This first pattern capsule is as much an experiment as it is a release. I want to create patterns you can come back to again and again. Pieces that feel good to stitch, easy to wear, and useful long after the first make. Simple shapes that, once youβve sewn them once, open the door to creative freedom β remixing, adapting, and inventing new versions to suit your life. These are the kinds of summer sewing patterns for women I love to use: reliable, flexible, and genuinely wearable.
Most of all, this experience reminded me how lovely it is to sew for myself. Not for work. Not for the kids. Not for the endless list of βshoulds.β Just for me. And honestly, it feels like coming home. Wearing something and casually saying, βYes, I made it myself,β never gets old ππ₯°
This capsule was never about trends. It was about sewing for a real-life body and real-life days. Clothes you can move in, live in, and reach for without thinking about the muffin top or too-tight waist. Pieces that feel kind, comforting and gentle when I put them on.
And hopefully, these summer sewing patterns encourage you to dust off your machine, push past the fear, and reconnect with the joy of self-expression β not just in the making, but in how you dress and express yourself every single day.
We all have our default βuniform,β donβt we? The safe option. The expected version of ourselves. This year, Iβm gently pushing back on that. More colour. More play. More expression. In cooking terms, sure β comfort food is great. But itβs also important to try new flavours and not get stuck serving the same dish forever π
We Who Stitch is slowly evolving from an idea intoβ¦ well, hopefully one day, a fully fledged Cult of Supportive Stitchers π€£. My hope is that it becomes a place where we connect, inspire one another, and give ourselves permission to play β with fabric, with colour, and with self-expression.
Thank you for making, for sharing, and for stitching along in your own way. Seeing how you bring these pieces into your lives β at home, out in the world, layered into the everyday β is genuinely exciting to me – that buzz also never gets tired π€©βοΈ
If youβd like to keep the full story together, all five patterns from the capsule are now bundled in one place as the Summer Capsule Pattern Bundle, available until 10th January. The patterns will still be available individually after that date, just not at the special bundle price.
