January 24. Studio humming again🤩
Not loud. Not hectic. Just that lovely, steady sound of machines running and people concentrating really hard, learning new things, gaining confidence and expressing their creativity in new ways 🤩🤩
We had three gorgeous beginners in for our Learn to Sew day, and we made the This Time Tee together.
And I need to tell you, it was a GOOD one ✨
The start: a little nervous, a lot excited
You know that feeling when you sit down at a sewing machine and your brain goes blank?
Where does the thread go?
WTF is the pedal doing?
Why is there a mystery lever?
Is it meant to sound like that?
Giggles, clunks, Swear Words – we get it all 🤣🤣
That’s the vibe in the beginning 😅
Then we get set up, take a breath, and start stitching. Oh – probs we have lollies too. For energy of course.
The middle: real learning, real sewing
We move through all the beginner stuff that makes everything feel easier at home later:
- Choosing fabric that is friendly to work with
- Cutting out properly (without the “why is it wonky” surprise)
- Machine set-up and simple maintenance
- Basic seam finishing so it looks neat and lasts
There were a few moments of unpicking. There always are 🤯🤯
There were also lots of tiny wins 🏆🏆
The kind that make you sit up straighter and go, “Oh! I get it now!” 🤩🤩
The end:the proud-face moment 🤩
And then the best bit.
That end-of-class moment where someone holds up their tee, checks the seams, turns it around, and smiles like they cannot believe they made it.
Everyone finished.
Everyone left with a wearable woven tee.
Everyone walked out taller than they walked in.
It was relaxed and friendly and very much “you cannot break it”.
Some people bring their own machines, which I love because you learn on the exact thing you will use at home.
And if you do not have a machine yet, we can hire one out, so you are still in the game.
Mostly, it’s just a really nice day.
The kind that makes sewing feel calm and doable and fun again😍
Days like this always remind me that the hardest part is starting.
Once you have threaded the machine, sewn a seam, and realised you can fix little mistakes, everything shifts.
Suddenly you are not “someone who wishes they could sew”.
You are someone who sews 🤩✂️🧵🪡

Next up: stitch it at home with the This Time Tee ✂️🧵

The This Time Tee is set up to help you get that same “I did it!” feeling at home, in your own time, in your comfiest clothes, with as many lollies as you like 😅🍬
