We’ve run this pattern for over three years now, and it keeps evolving with you! Each year we’ve added new hacks, lengths, and finishing options – from longline woven coats to cropped cardis, all featured in the product gallery.

Whether you’re just getting started or looking for a relaxing weekend sew, this pattern has loads to offer:

  • Sizes XS (6–8) to XXL (22–24)

  • Rolled waterfall collar

  • Long sleeves

  • Seam finish options from simple to couture

  • Fabric cutting guides for different fabric widths

It works beautifully in loads of fabric types – soft felted or boiled wools for beginners, or luxe designer deadstock wool if you’re up for something special. 😍

👉 Hot tip: Always make a toile – it’s a great way to test things out, and you can usually make it wearable too!

LOOM Woven Coat & Cardy PDF – Versatile Woven Coat Sewing Pattern

This pattern was born on a night I hit rock bottom. I’d just moved into my own place, leaving the family home behind. The kids were with their dad, and I was sitting in this freezing, mouldy house, completely miserable. I was wrapped in the most disgusting tracksuit you’ve ever seen, ugg boots on, and powering through gin and tonics like it was an Olympic sport. 🥴

Then came a knock at the door. It was a woman from across the road – someone I vaguely knew, just popping in to say hello. I was teary, embarrassed, and looking like absolute trash. Honestly, so did the house. It was one of those “what has my life become?” moments.

That night, I decided I needed something – something warm, stylish, and comforting. I now lived in town where people could knock on your door without warning, and I didn’t want to be caught in that tracksuit ever again 😂. I wanted something snuggly and warm that I could throw on, feel good in, head to the supermarket without a bra, and no one would know. Like a stylish dressing gown, but chic enough to wear outside.

That’s how this pattern came to life.

I had the most beautiful French wool – it’s the wine-coloured one in the gallery – and when I made the first version, something shifted. I felt better. Warmer. A bit more like me. It was the beginning of taking care of myself, renovating me, and eventually, the house. This coat made me feel worthy, creative, capable. And if you’ve followed my story, you’ll know the house is now gorgeous, I’m very happy, and I’m no longer drowning in gin and tonics.

Oh – and I ditched the disgusting tracksuits. Only stylish ones now 😎

Remember: Always make a toile – it’s a great way to test things out, and you can usually make it wearable too!
