Love Twinning with My Mini-Me ππ: Hand-Embroidered Linen Dresses
An update from Charlotte and Emily with bits of me sprinkled through π€© :
Charlotte: Thanks to Rel for prompting me to get back on the sewing machine after a very long hiatus!
Rel: Well That Is my ABSOLUTE PLEASURE Charlotte π€©πβ¨β¨π
The Dresses: A Perfect Match for Mum and Bub
Charlotte: I started with the Style Arc Lacey dress pattern, and made up one for myself and a mini version for Emily in this beautiful quality striped linen .
I usedΒ the mini version for Emily. Love the pattern both for me and bubs and Iβm sure Iβll be tracing out all the kids sizes as my little one grows. Will be a very versatile pattern for all sorts of fabrics, both knits and woven.
The Embroidery: Adding a Personal Touch
Charlotte: The embroidery pattern is from the Ania design kit by Kasia Jaquot. The full design fits perfectly onto the adult bodice, and I adapted it to make a smaller version for Emilyβs dress.
The embroidery kit is available at Loom and is so beautifully and creatively put together, opening it up gave me the same feeling as opening up a new coffee table artbook. What a fabulous idea for a present for someone creative in your life, beginner or embroidery pros alike!
Rel throwing in here: Also a great self care gift!
Rel: The result? Gorgeous TWINNING – Don’t they look great!!! πππ€© I LOVE looking at the dreamy happiness on Charlie and Emily in their garden in their matching dresses. Charlotte has told me that Emily loves their matching dresses π SWOON! It takes me back to my girls being so little and cuddly – I now have 14 and 16 year old daughters – a VERY different territory π³π€ͺπ€£π€£

Why This Project Was So Special
CHATGPTπ€£: Thereβs something so nostalgic about sewing matching outfits, isnβt there? Itβs more than just creating clothesβitβs about making memories. π I loved twinning in our dresses, and the process of making them reminded me how satisfying it is to create something with my hands. Itβs not just about the finished product but the journey of stitching love into every seam.
If youβve been thinking about starting a sewing project or trying embroidery, let this be your sign! Thereβs no better time to bring out your creative side and make something uniquely you. β¨
Rel: This gorgeous project really has inspired me to get back on the machine for myself. I spend A LOT of time sewing – but not usually for ME. I sew for others doing alterations, and for work doing patterns and samples using the fabric we are selling, but not so much truly for me. I’m looking forward to really exploring my craft this year π€©
